Welcome to our blog. This is a spot for people to find additional information and support in stopping a landfill from entering our beautiful part of Aotearoa - Brighton Beach, Otago. 

There’s very little detail on the Smooth Hill landfill project, simply a couple of paragraphs. What has stood out is the inconsistencies around the cost for a new landfill development and that the need for a new landfill is not in line with the Council wanting to "reduce waste"; their consent documentation shows a plan for capacity based on a dramatic increase in waste – so what are they up to? ….
